Introduction/Proof of How Bored I Get

Wow, for one, I rarely update this blog, and for another, I've never introduced myself properly here. Even though I don't have many followers, I may as well do the introduction. Besides, I'm on spring break this week because of college, and I'm kinda bored.

Basically, I'm an 18 year old writer finishing up both high school and a college associate's degree. I enjoy fantasy and sci-fi immensely, and I love both reading and writing. I don't really watch TV, so my favorite TV shows include cartoons like Avatar: The Last Airbender and anime like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptors, and Tokyo Mew Mew (which I usually refer to as Mew Mew Power, since most of the time I like dubs better than subs. Hey, don't hurt me!). Recently I've also gotten into webcomics (I blame Howard Taylor and Emily Marie Sorensen for that, although they're both awesome!), and a few of my favorites include:

- Schlock Mercenary (Howard's comic)
- Angel Moxie
- Kid Radd
- A Magical Roommate (Emily's comic that started me finding others...)
- Realms of Ishikaze (even though I can't read them all... stupid subscription)
- The Phoeneix Requiem
- Kimono's Townhouse
- Nowhere University

My favorite movies of all time are the Star Wars saga and Princess Bride (no other movie is full of such witty one-liners!). Other hobbies of mine include ballroom dance, drawing (even though I'm not too great at it), and swimming. I hope one day to be a published author, maybe even a journalist too, and a wife and mother.

As the title of my blog states, I'm Mormon (although I usually state LDS), so I keep my writing and occasional drawings clean because of my beliefs.

Now, why on Earth did I start this blog? So I could write and put it up where people can see it. Even though I have only a handful of followers now, I hope to gain a few more in the future. Who knows, maybe by next year while I'm at BYU I'll get in the swing of updating more and this'll be more popular!

Btw, if you like my blog, recommend it to others, and feel free to comment on posts!

Stormy Night (a poem)

Raindrops on the window
Glide slowly down the glass

Reflecting light from inside
Twinkling like stars

Descending golden glitter
Striking against the dark

Story idea

Ok, so almost wherever I go, I have a notebook of some sort on me, and sometimes a story idea pops into my head. With some alterations, here is one of those many ideas.
~*~*~*~
The Enchantress remained on alert, even while on vacation. Well, not as alert as she would be in Chantea, but even at Knott's Berry Farm in California, Ruby, now age sixteen, kept an eye out for anything out of place. Of course, that didn't mean she couldn't have fun while doing it.

Ruby was standing in line for the newest ride, Sierra Sidewinder, with her parents, a brother of her dad's and four cousins ranging in age from 5 to 15. She, her dad and two cousins had already been on several fantastic roller coasters, including the wooden Ghost Rider, the ultra-fast Boomarang and Xcelerator, the towering Supreme Scream, and La Revolucion. So far, nothing out of the ordinary had happened, and, despite the barely noticeable headache, Ruby was laughing and talking with her family and enjoying herself immensely.

Well, minus having to wait in this long line, Ruby thought, sensing slight nausea after having drunk a carton of apple juice. While waiting for the normal occurrence to pass, she brushed a strand of her long blond hair behind her ear and moved forward with her family in line, leaning against the wooden rail. She rested her head on her hand as her 5 year old cousin leaned against her...

Then, she sensed it. A slow, rhythmetic pulsing of a being from another world.

Alarmed, but not showing it, she moved again in the line. Appearing nonchalant and bored, she leaned against the rail again as she searched for the disturbance with her mind. She found it and, sighing softly, made contact telepathically just before she stepped onto the stairs heading up to the ride.

I found you, idiot. You scared me half to death! For a moment I thought it was someone else neither of us want to run into.

Why hello, Miss Enchantress! a suave, deep voice replied. How could you tell it was me?

Your Chantean mystic makes you stick out, Solomon. By now Ruby was at the top of the small stairway and had spotted him, in his kitten form, near the track of the roller coaster she was waiting for. He was easy to see in the small bush by the orange fur he retain in both his kitten disguise and in his true form.

Well, at least not everyone hear is telepathic, my dear. She saw the kitten smirk flirtatiously, an accustomed face for him.

Ruby rolled her eyes as she was forced to walk forward, unable to always keep her eyes on the kitten. Just cut to the chase, please. I'm kinda busy and don't have time for flirting.

You never have time for my flirting, Enchantress. Annoyance was evident in his voice, which faded as he continued. But yes, I'll get to the point. The ruler of Sapea has requested that you come straight away.

King Andres? Not Queen Selene of all of Chantea? That's new.

I was just as surprised, milady. Anyways, he wants you to attend a meeting at his palace. The details-

You'll tell me later? Ruby interrupted. I have to get on the ride now.

Ah, yes, that I will. Some of them are classified, anyways.

Brilliant. See ya. Ruby closed off the connection as she stepped onto the ride. To herself she thought, That's just great. I may as well be on the lookout for Lucenius or one of his goons, too. Ruby shuddered, but the impending minute-long roller coaster wasn't what scared her. This does not bode well, for Chantea or for Earth.
---
"Hey, move it!" Ruby's eight-year old cousin shoved his five-year old sister out of the way as the kids dashed into the Wild West stage for the stunt show. Smiling at her cousins' antics, she sat in the middle of the splash zone, right in the center of the seating, and waved her parents and aunt and uncle over to the bench. Her blue eyes looked around leisurely at the growing crowd of people, her cousins fidgeting and running around, and the western town scenery on stage.

"Now, Charles, be nicer to your sister," her aunt chided the little dark-haired boy. "Ruby, can Charles sit next to you so he won't bother her during the show?"

"Sure thing, Aunt Ann," Ruby replied, as music began to play. Charles reluctantly sat by his teenage cousin, swinging his legs, his Hispanic skin a sharp contrast to her Caucasion skin. As an acter walked out of a door onstage and began his lines, she saw him, merged into the darkness just next to the stage. His black clothing and western-style hat he chose to disguise himself didn't hide him from Ruby's telepathy.

His mind, like Solomon's, gave off the same pulsings. Only, these pulsings radiated muted rage, evil intents- and stimulated Ruby's heart to pound with fear.

Oh no. Not him. It's not Lucenius, but please no- this dude's just as heartless. She crept swiftly through the rows to the edge of the crowd, her training from Chantea's forests kicking in. I have to stop him. No one hatches evil schemes in this world without dealing with the Enchantress.

Is it evident that I like suspense and fantasy? LOL Any comments would be appreciated.

My Prophet, Our Prophet

Gone is the smiling face

Of out Prophet Hinckley dear

On the earth his calming words

And teachings live in memory

In and out of the church alike

He formed many friendships, built unifying bridges

Taught and stood for the Gospel true

Yet still had a joke to lighten the mood

Despite years of aging and pain

He worked and traveled for the Church's sake

Not letting his age slow him down at all

Even after a trip to the hospital room

Four years after the death of Marjorie

He's finally joined her in spirit paradise

Though he is missed by people on Earth

He's with his wife and our Father now

I shall never forget

His influence on me

For his is my prophet,

My teacher, my friend

The Dark Side of Life: A Set of Poems

(written on 9/22/08)

Perhaps it's
Accidental, or maybe it's
Intentional, but it should
Never last long
----
Because it's in real
Life, it should never be
On the cover of
Or in the graphics of a video game
Death in war's gruesome enough
----
Very overused
In movies and video games, so
Overused that very few have
Learned to hate this
Extremity prevalant
Nowadays.
Could someone please get this
Evil out of our culture?

About my friend's blog...

So, I have a friend of mine who started a blog called "Lost in Translation: A Guys Guide to a Girls World." When I started reading it, I found many things I liked in her blog, so I sent the link of it to most of the people in my contact list, including guys, saying it was a good one. Well, some people got a little miffed, and not just the guys I sent it too. If I hurt anyone's feelings, or just made them ticked, I sincerely apologize.

The rational stated on another blog I follow is that girls shouldn't ask guys to try and understand them, since it's not quite worth the headache. While I see why the author said that, because it really is too much to ask guys to try and fully understand girls, on the other hand guys could just try to understand girls without the girls asking them too. I mean, marriages work because of mutual respect and at least a good, if not an excellent, understanding. With cross-gender friendships and , these qualities can work too.

What it seems is that some took that blog to mean that the guys have to do all the work, which really shouldn't be the case. Rather, both sides need to work on it; guys, if you do happen to find my friend's suggestions helpful, you can use them, but don't do all the work in your friendship or boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. Girls, you have to also work at it. The guys can't do everything, and you're not perfect. If something is wrong, and it involves both of you, then both of you work it out. :)

Btw, here's the post that brought up the email I sent, and that author's opinion on the subject:
