My Prophet, Our Prophet

Gone is the smiling face

Of out Prophet Hinckley dear

On the earth his calming words

And teachings live in memory

In and out of the church alike

He formed many friendships, built unifying bridges

Taught and stood for the Gospel true

Yet still had a joke to lighten the mood

Despite years of aging and pain

He worked and traveled for the Church's sake

Not letting his age slow him down at all

Even after a trip to the hospital room

Four years after the death of Marjorie

He's finally joined her in spirit paradise

Though he is missed by people on Earth

He's with his wife and our Father now

I shall never forget

His influence on me

For his is my prophet,

My teacher, my friend

The Dark Side of Life: A Set of Poems

(written on 9/22/08)

Perhaps it's
Accidental, or maybe it's
Intentional, but it should
Never last long
----
Because it's in real
Life, it should never be
On the cover of
Or in the graphics of a video game
Death in war's gruesome enough
----
Very overused
In movies and video games, so
Overused that very few have
Learned to hate this
Extremity prevalant
Nowadays.
Could someone please get this
Evil out of our culture?
